Cake Batter Ice Cream

Published August 6, 2012 by thepinkgourmet

This recipe  is for those of you with an electric ice cream maker.  Who doesn’t like ice cream!!!   And what’s better than cake batter ice cream…….  I am not that big of fan of  just plain old vanilla ice cream.  Cake mix adds a richer layer of flavor to vanilla ice cream.  This is very easy and can be made in about 40 minutes from start to end.

Cake Batter Ice Cream – Inspired by Sherry’s recipe

1 C milk (or 1/2 C milk, 1/2 C cream)
1/2 C sugar (or less, depending on how sweet you like it)
2 C Half and Half (I use Fat-Free)
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 C yellow cake mix

Freeze ice cream bowl as directed.

In a large bowl, combine together sugar and the cake mix — stir to combine.

Then, add the half and half along with the milk and stir until cake mix and sugar are well mixed. Add vanilla.

Pour into ice cream maker and make according to directions. Mine takes about 25 minutes. Then… enjoy :)

Try this in a delicious ice cream cake!!

Make sure you bowl is completely frozen.  Mine was in the freezer at this time. Check with your manual for how long.

Just think you only need these 4 ingredients plus sugar to make this incredible ice cream……

In a large bowl I combined the cake mix (I used white) and the sugar.

Now you are ready to add the liquids to the dry mix. I used 2 cups heavy cream and 1 cup of milk to make it richer tasting.

All I can say at this point is I can’t wait for it to be finished!  Stir until it is smooth and without lumps.

Now it’s time to add the vanilla.  Look at the rich color of the vanilla.

Make sure you stir it up well. Get ready to pour it into the machine.

This is what is looks like when you first put it in the machines.  It’s hard to believe it will soon be ice cream…

This was about after 10 minutes.

This was about at 15 minutes.

I couldn’t resist a little taste!!!!

It’s ready to come out when it looks like this.  It had been  about 25  minutes.

Make sure you scrape out all the ice cream.

Make sure you have storage containers to put any left over ice cream in.  If  it is not just yourself you may not have any to put up.

I couldn’t help it.  I LOVE ME SOME CHOCOLATE!!   It was as good as it looks.  I can’t wait to make it again.

Another out of 4……
